OT DAY 153 - Taming Your Tongue (請按此處收聼廣東話 )

On Feb. 18 Ash Wednesday(first day of Lent), I am going to put my newly revised 40 days Break.Build blog and podcast to this blog and podcast for 40 days. This is to encourage you to find one to two friends to be their discipler to walk with them for 40 days having daily devotion. Hopefully they can establish a lifestyle to have a daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus from then on. There will be a blog written in Chinese that I have never tried before. Please pray for this 40 days Break.Build and be willing to be raised up by our Lord Jesus Christ to be one of the disciplers to lead people to Him daily.

Let us praise the Lord:

For you, O God, have tested us;
    you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into the net;
    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.
                                             Psalm 66:10-12
Today's Reading: Exodus 20:16

      The nineth Commandment forbids giving false testimony. Again, just like the one in yesterday "Do not steal", we may not think that this commandment has any relationship to us. Why? Most people do not do that, right?

      How about I give you just one example, that's from James 3:1-10

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.
How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

       Can you control your tongue according to what James teaches?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to Felix Mendelssohn's On Wings of Song played by one of the greatest violinist Isaac Stern:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Yj3RSxZmBQ

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Taming your tongue

    What I receive from Jesus today is a warning. Our tongue is somewhat like a tiger that needs to be tamed but very difficult to tame. Do you agree?

    I have been learning very hard to tame my tongue so that I can not only praise our Lord but also know how to praise other people, appreciate other people's help and work. It is really not easy because we can't control our tongues.

    Taming your tongue is one of the top priorities you need to do.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to tame our tongues. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
