Bible Study

After warning about not following the worldly king to make compromise to non-Christian values, this passage shows the glory of Jesus' elite warriors. Those who follow the King of kings and Lord of lords. The number 144,000 is a symbolic number giving encouragement to those who were about to be under severe suffering, torture or death.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

In the reality to which this symbol points, they are in fact a great company which nobody could count; the chances are that they sing songs which all Christians would know; and some of them may be married and some single - but all are permanently ready for the real battle, which is the engagement with the monsters and their demands, an engagement which may mean at any moment that they will be required to suffer or even to die.
These elite warriors serve, then, to encourage the small Christian groups who, faced with the monstrous might of Rome and its local supporters, would probable feel powerless and helpless.

N.T. Wright. Revelation for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.125.

If you are in deep suffering for Jesus, being bad mouthed, accused and persecuted, be encouraged! Do you know how to join in this group of elite warriors to fight a good fight for Jesus?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Be Jesus' elite warriors

What I receive today is such an encouragement. Often time we feel so lonely fighting a war seems have no end. Often time we feel discouraged and hopeless.

John wants to give us a picture that up there in heaven there are a large group of elite warriors praising and worshiping God. Everywhere Jesus goes they follow Him.

Here comes the key to become Jesus elite warriors. Everywhere Jesus goes, you follow.

Talking is so easy. Sometimes, lots of Christians even lose the presence of Jesus. How can they follow? Who can they follow? How about you?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to follow you each day that someday we can be in the midst of those elite warriors praising and worshipping you with heavenly hosts.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
