This passage shows how Jesus died because of the wicked, unjust, immoral legal system of the ancient world. The Jews did not have authority to execute anyone. Pilate as the Roman highest official in that region had the authority to execute anyone but he did not want to exercise his authority to kill. So, does it mean that Jesus could be free? No, the one who did not want to kill had to kill because of that wicked, unjust and immoral legal system!
Do you think we have this kind of Jews and Pilate around you? Are you one of them? Have you prepared yourself to face those wicked, unjust and immoral system and people?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"
What I heard from Jesus today is: Be prepared to face the wicked!
Just two days ago someone shared with me about a Christian we know who is so wicked, unjust and immoral. When I heard that my heart ached and I was full of sadness to see this kind of thing happen to those who claim they are Christians, good Christians!
I have seen and experienced quite some similar examples as those Jews and Pilate in this passage. What can we do? What could Jesus do? What did Jesus do?
Be prepared to face the wicked! And, don't be discouraged!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be prepared to face those wicked and not being discouraged, trusting that you have total control in all things and you will have your own way to deal with those people. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
