Today's passage is about Jesus two wonderful miracles. N.T. Wright explains that Jesus was dealing with two of the most obvious sources of pollution according to Jewish scriptures and subsequent traditions and that are corpses and women with internal bleeding.
N.T. Wright says:
In other words, a first-century reader coming upon this double story would know very well that Jesus was, apparently, incurring double pollution...
Jesus shares the pollution of sickness and death, but the power of his own love - and it is love, above all, that shines through these stories - turns that pollution into wholeness and hope.
This is the message that Luke would repeat to us today, in whatever problem or suffering we face. The presence of Jesus, getting his hands dirty with the problems of the world, is what we need, and what in the gospel we are promised. As we live inside Luke's developing story, we find Jesus quietly coming alongside us in our own muddle and fear. He welcomes our trembling touch, and responds with that central biblical command: 'Don't be afraid.'
How do you feel Jesus touching you each day to remove your fear and heal you? How willing are you to get your hands dirty with Jesus to remove others fear and to bring healing to them?
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Getting your hands dirty with Jesus!
What I received today from Jesus is an invitation to each one of us to do two things:
1. To let him touch you
Jesus is so willing and eager to touch you removing your fear away and give you healing. He doesn't mind how dirty you are but he would get his hands dirty in order to bring healing to you. Are you willing to let him touch you now?
2. To get your hands dirty with Jesus
Jesus is so anxious for you to get your hands dirty with him to remove other people's fear and to being healing to them. Are you willing to do so with Jesus?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to get our hands dirty with you to remove other people's fear and bring healing to them. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
