Bible Study
Today's passage is how Jesus commissioned the Twelve, gave them power and authority and sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. We then see how Jesus tested their faith that they went out bringing their very basic belongings to do what Jesus commanded them to do. When they completed that basic faith practicum, Jesus led them to experience his power to feed the five thousands.
Any relationship with their practicum of no food and no money and then the power to feed five thousands?
N.T. Wright says:
Christians who intend to make the gospel story their own are living a venture of faith from first to last.
God is always the Provider and we need to have a total trust of his provision. Can you imagine what would Jesus' Twelve think when they went out to do the practicum without bringing any food and money and just with very basic clothes and no more?
Are you willing to live a venture of faith? Are you in this venture now?
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you willing to live a venture of faith?
What I received today from Jesus is a question to see whether we are living on our own provision, power and authority or on God's provision, power and authority.
Do you have any evidence to prove that you have gone through those basic practicum prepared by Jesus like he prepared for his Twelve to do in order to train their faith to begin their venture of faith?
If you have, congratulations, keep it up to enjoy this kingdom venture of faith!
If you don't, then you need to pray and wait for the Lord to lead you to experience his provision, power and authority in a tailor-made way.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to enjoy your provision, power and authority that we can live a venture of faith extending your mighty kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
