Bible Study

Paul concludes the first chapter with a message of the purpose of his life. He declares that he labours and struggles with everything he has so that more people can become mature Christians.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The church in Colossae has never met Paul, but he says in verses 28-29 that if they want to know what he spends most of his time doing, it is this: he announces Jesus as King and Lord.  And he does it with the aim of bringing as many as possible to mature Christian living 'in the king', 'in Christ'.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:The Prison Letters. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.160.

What is the purpose of your life? How can Paul's purpose of life gives inspiration and direction to you to set a new goal for the purpose of your life?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: I am powerless, He is powerful!

The message I got from Jesus today is a reality as well as direction for us to live everyday in the power of our mighty God. The most inspiring thing is that Paul declares that the strength, energy and power he has is not from him but from Jesus because he is willing to let Jesus works in him.

Paul declares that he is powerless and Jesus is all powerful. Do you know how important this message is?

When you understand and live everyday knowing that you are powerless, then, you have a better chance to experience the power of Jesus and you have a better chance to have Jesus "powerfully works in you." (verse 28)

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to know that we are powerless and be willing to let you powerfully works in us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
