DAY 703 - Are You Even Human? How Can You Do That? (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Four years ago today, April 9, 2010, Michelle went to see her family doctor and was told that she got leukaemia. She was admitted to Vancouver General Hospital the next morning (http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2010/04/day-234-my-wife-michelle-has-leukemia.html ). Michelle is not feeling well lately!  Her family doctor is now having a series of check-up for her to see what is happening. On this day, I would like to invite you to join us in a 100 days of prayer (From April 9 to July 17) for Michelle, our family and my ministry. Please click this link to join us to pray:

Bible Study

     The author gives quite some examples that Jesus is superior to the angels. In the next chapters, he shows the readers that Jesus is superior than Moses, superior to the Law and everything else.  But, here in this passage, he shows us that Jesus is "for a little while lower than the angels". Why? He just tells us that Jesus is superior to the angels, but now he says he is lower than the angels.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
      This time, though, he speaks of this superiority in terms of the future role that has been marked out for the son.  In the coming world, God intends that the original order of creation should finally be realized: the world is to be ruled, wisely and creatively, by human beings who themselves live in trusting obedience to God himself.  In Genesis 1 and 2, Adam and Eve are given charge of the garden and the animals.  This role, though corrupted in all sorts of ways through the 'fall' in Genesis 3, is reaffirmed in Psalm 8, from which Hebrews now quotes.  what are human beings?  ask the Psalm.  Why does God treat them in such a special way, when they are so obviously small and insignificant in terms of the wider creation?  The answer is mysterious and powerful: humans seem at the moment to be lower than the angels, a lesser order of beings, but God intends that they should become the world's true governors.  that's what being 'crowned with glory and honour' means.'

      The author wants to show us that Jesus is a perfect and true human. He is so human that what we need to do is to follow his way of living so that we can get back the original purpose of God's creation of human beings is to govern and rule. How well are you governing and ruling that everything around you is in God's good order?

Spiritual Journal

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Are you even human? How can you do that?

    The message I got from Jesus today is a challenge to us whether we are a true human. Usually when we say, "Are you even human?" The next line would be, "How can you do that?" It means we are angry at someone and want to tell him or her that if he or she is human, they would never do that kind of silly thing.

     So, if we are truly human, what should we do? We have the answer here in this passage. We need to rise up, to govern and to rule. Not in a sense that you become a "control freak", always want to control everyone and everything. No! If we are able to become true human we should have the ability to govern and rule that everything would be in a good order as God intends.

     Are you even human? What's your answer? 

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to follow your good example that we can be a true human making everything into good order according to your will. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
