DAY 700 - The Ultimate Challenge (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Four years ago today, April 9, 2010, Michelle went to see her family doctor and was told that she got leukaemia. She was admitted to Vancouver General Hospital the next morning (http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2010/04/day-234-my-wife-michelle-has-leukemia.html ). Michelle is not feeling well lately!  Her family doctor is now having a series of check-up for her to see what is happening. On this day, I would like to invite you to join us in a 100 days of prayer (From April 9 to July 17) for Michelle, our family and my ministry. Please click this link to join us to pray:
New 100 Days Prayer Campaign (2014.04.09-2014.07.17)

What you need to do is very simple. Choose one hour slot for the whole week to pray for Michelle, our family and my ministry. You may use the whole hour in prayer or you can still do you work in your office but use as much time as you can to pray and the other time work prayerfully that hour to pray for us. I encourage you to participate. We need you to join us! Trust in the power of prayers!

Bible Study

We start the book of Hebrews today. No one knows who wrote this book. We only know that this is a book focusing on Jesus as the Messiah. In today's passage, the author makes it very clear that everything since the Old Testament time is pointing to Jesus and leading people to focus everything on Jesus.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
The  passages our writer quotes in verse 5 are two of the Old Testament passages the early Christians used most frequently when they were struggling to say what had to be said about Jesus.  Psalm 2.7 and 2 Samuel 7.14 both speak of the Messiah, the ultimate son of David, as God's own special son.  Like all the early Christians, the writer of this letter begins his thinking with the belief that Jesus was and is the Messiah, Israel's true king.  Everything else follows from that.
So, though we don't know who the author of this letter was, we know something even more important about him.  Right from the start, he has his eyes fixed on Jesus; at the end of the letter, when he draws everything together, he urges us to have our eyes fixed on him, too(12.2; 13.8).  Are you ready for the challenge?

N.T. Wright. Hebrews for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.4.

There are so many things in our lives distract us from focusing on Jesus. Those distractions make us unable to focus or rest, nervous, worry, frightened and may be depressed. How can we really and surely focus on Jesus each day should be the most important thing we need to do right from we open our eyes each day.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: The ultimate challenge

The message I got from Jesus today is an interesting challenge. There are quite a number of books, games and other things called "the ultimate challenge". But, Bishop N.T. Wright inspires me today that the real ultimate challenge of our life each day is how we can focus on Jesus.

If we really can focus on Jesus each day. I think we can surely live a blessed and anointed life each day and that Jesus can use us to make others to live a blessed and anointed life each day. Do you think so?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to take the ultimate challenge so that we can focus on you each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
