DAY 704 - No Fear! Jesus Is Your Oldest Brother !(請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Four years ago today, April 9, 2010, Michelle went to see her family doctor and was told that she got leukaemia. She was admitted to Vancouver General Hospital the next morning (http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2010/04/day-234-my-wife-michelle-has-leukemia.html ). Michelle is not feeling well lately!  Her family doctor is now having a series of check-up for her to see what is happening. On this day, I would like to invite you to join us in a 100 days of prayer (From April 9 to July 17) for Michelle, our family and my ministry. Please click this link to join us to pray:
New 100 Days Prayer Campaign (2014.04.09-2014.07.17)

What you need to do is very simple. Choose one hour slot for the whole week to pray for Michelle, our family and my ministry. You may use the whole hour in prayer or you can still do you work in your office but use as much time as you can to pray and the other time work prayerfully that hour to pray for us. I encourage you to participate. We need you to join us! Trust in the power of prayers!

Bible Study

Today's passage gives us a strong assurance that we need not to live our lives under fear, especially the fear of death. (v. 15) Why? Because Jesus is like our oldest brother who did go through everything no one can go through.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Above all other passages in early Christian writings, this one speaks most fully about Jesus as the oldest brother, the firstborn, of a large family. It encourages us to see Jesus not as the kind of older brother whom we resent because he's always getting things right and being successful while we're always getting things wrong and failing, but as the kind of older brother who, without a trace of patronizing or looking down his nose at us, comes to find us where we are, out of sheer love and goodness of heart, and to help us out of the mess
The author sees Jesus as the pioneer: he is 'the one who leads the way'.  Imagine an explorer cutting his way deep into the jungle.  Nobody has been this way before; there are no paths, no trails, no signs that it's possible to go this way.  ..Once he's done that, others can follow.

N.T. Wright. Hebrews for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.19.

What kind of things are you fearing of? Nothing you fear of that Jesus had not been through. What kind of assurance can you receive from Jesus today?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: No fear! Jesus is your oldest brother!

The message I got from Jesus today is such a comfort and assurance message. Yes, nothing we fear of that Jesus had not been through, even death. So, why we have so much fear?

Jesus is reminding you that you are like a little brother of him. The closer you walk beside him, the better you are being protected. The closer your relationship with Him, the clearer you can follow His path that you can have every kind of breakthrough you need for so long.

No fear any more! Because Jesus is your oldest brother!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for being our oldest brother. Lead us each day to follow you that we will live each day without any fear but to enjoy life and be anointed to extend your mighty Kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
