Bible Study

     Today's passage shows us how a husband should love his wife and why his wife should come first now among all other human relationships. 

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

     In the parable, God did not make the woman from scratch by taking another handful of dirt and holding it, as God did with the animals.  Instead, God used a part of the first human being to make the second.  That draws attention to the closer relationship between the man and the woman.  It is almost as if the woman is born from the man…In the woman he marries, a man finds a missing part of himself, something that complements him…
     Genesis is recognizing the extraordinary nature of the process whereby a man leaves his parents and starts a new commitment to a woman.
     Actually in the Old Testament a man does not usually do that.  A woman leaves her family and joins her husband's...In a literal sense a man does not leave home when he marries but brings his wife to his parents'  house, or at least into a house in a cluster occupied by the extended family.  That means he needs to make sure he transfers his affections and his commitments.  His wife comes first now.

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: A real man loves his wife

    What I receive from Jesus today is the key to have a blessed life, a blessed family, a blessed society, a blessed nation and a blessed world. But that won't happen? Why?

    This morning my wife Michelle called me with a very happy and sweet, sweet tone thanking me for preparing something for her. It is such a small matter and she was so happy. I spent just two minutes to prepare something before I drove to church for work. That two minutes of extra work made her so happy! Yes, sometimes we think of big thing like buying three dozen roses, a diamond ring, an expensive car, a big house … If you love your wife, if you love your husband, you will do anything you can and sacrifice all you have for him/her, right? That's the vow in a wedding ceremony, but that's a vow that most husbands and wives cannot live out!    


    Have you got this important key to love your wife, brothers?

Dear Lord Jesus,

Open our ears to listen to your Word and to live it out so that husband can love their wives and wives love their husbands.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
