Bible Study

Today's passage gives a picture of how human beings step into the trap of the crouching creature generations and generations to disobey God's command, to sin and to kill.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

There are thus various levels of anguish about God's "What have you done?"  It virtually repeats what went on between God and Cain's mother.  Like mother, like son, he has failed to resist the creature crouching at the door.

How much do you like your parents? In good ways? In bad ways? Do you know you are most likely to inherit your parents sinful nature if there is any?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: You need to cut the tie of sin

The message I receive from Jesus today is a very crucial missing piece to become Jesus faithful disciples. Why? Because we have all kinds of sinful nature succeeded from our parents or our ancestors that we do not know of.

I always tell people that if you are an angry person then there must be some people in your bloodline that they are angry people too. Not only anger, but all kinds of sinful nature like what Paul describes those fifteen sinful nature as in Galatians 5: 19-21:

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;  idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions  and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

We inherit those kind of sinful nature from our parents or ancestors just like Cain inherit that from his mother Eve. That's why it is so difficult for Christians to become faithful disciples of Christ unless we have a way to cut that tie of sin!

How? Only Jesus can cut that tie. The closer you are with Jesus each day, the better chance you would have to cut that tie of sin. That's the only way I know and experience!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to cut the tie of sin from our ancestors so that we can be free and be able to become your faithful disciples. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
