Bible Study

Yesterday's passage had only one verse, a very important verse about we are not God, just God's image. Today's passage talks more about this image.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

It is as creatures made jointly in God's image that women and men together have the task of mastering the earth.  In Genesis 1 there is a structure of authority.  God is the ultimate authority.  God then delegates authority over creation to humanity, and women and men together are the means of exercising it.  There is no suggestion in the creation stories that God designed the world to be a place where any human beings exercised authority over any others.  There was no authority to be exercised by men over women, or husbands over wives;  there were no masters and servants or slaves; there were no kings and subjects  and there were no emperors and underlings.  There was neither slave or free, nor male or female, nor Jew or Gentile.  All were one in creation.

John Goldingay. Genesis for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.21.

Can you see now how we as human beings has been messing up God's real creation intent?  Are you messing up God's real creation intent? How can you do better to join God's plan and not messing up His plan?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: God is the ultimate authority

What I receive from Jesus today is a reminder that God delegates authority over creation to us. But, many people take that authority themselves lording other people, trying to control things.

God delegates authority to men and women, husbands and wives to make their home better, to nurture their children to be more Christlike. Instead, we have all kinds of terrible broken relationship of husbands and wives and broken families. We see more and more divorce happened.

God delegates authority to men and women to be more fruitful and increase in number. Instead, we can't see much fruits and growth in all areas, no matter in societies, families, churches and elsewhere.

Why? Because we as human beings do not allow God to be the ultimate authority. We say Jesus is Lord, but Jesus rarely becomes someone's Lord!

Why don't you put down your crown, acting to be lord and king and let God to be the ultimate authority before it is too late! You need to know that God is really the ultimate authority and He has a bottom line to allow you to mess up His original plan.

Let Jesus to be your Lord, before it is too late!

Let Jesus to be your Lord, then you will be fruitful and increase in number.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to allow you to be the ultimate authority, to be our Lord so that we can be fruitful and increase in number. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
