Bible Study

     Today's passage gives us an opportunity to know what is a real human being. Do you want to know about that? 

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

     So at the beginning, God did not breathe a soul into the human being.  God first created a complete human person and then breathed life into it.  Indeed, what God says about the first human being also applies to the rest of the animate world.  Animals are also "living beings" in this sense; Genesis uses the same phrase to describe them.  Breathing life into the human being means that henceforth this whole person will serve God and relate to God (or will be able to do that).

      Are you a real human being? Are you serving God and related to Him? How are you related?

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: A real human being will serve God and relate to God

    What I receive from Jesus today is a very important message for us to understand our purpose of life as a real human being. The difference of a human being and all those animals is God's breath. God breathes in us and we have souls, animals do not have souls. Animal do not know how to serve God and relate to God, only human beings.

    When friends are having fierce arguments they might say, "You are not a human being? How can you do that to me?" Why someone say that? It is because they think that human beings cannot do things to break friendship and relationship. But, we as human beings always do that and that is such a pain and it hurts deep down our souls!

     According to this passage, those who are not serving God and those who do not have a relationship with God are not real human beings. They are "living beings" like all those animals but not "human beings". Because God breathes into human beings so that we have souls to serve Him and have relationship with Him.

     Are you a real human being? 
   

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to be willing to serve you and to have a true daily intimate relationship with you so that we are real human beings. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
