Bible Study

     Today's passage gives us another picture after yesterday's picture of the wickedness of all human beings. Noah is the only example God found favor. Let's learn from Noah's life so that we have a part in God's salvation work. 

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

     The order in which Genesis reports on God and Noah is significant.  First it tells us Noah found grace with God.  Then it tells us Noah was a person of faithfulness and integrity, and someone who walked about with God like Enoch.  then it tells us how God gave Noah instructions for surviving the coming destruction.  Missing with any aspect of the order in this story messes up the theology.

      Could you check this order to see how many pieces do you have? How can you live your life according to this order?  Actually, this is not only the order of Noah, but Jesus and all those faithful servants of God.

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: To follow Noah's good example

    The message I receive from Jesus today gives us a three steps spiritual fitness test- Noah's good example. I think we need to have this check daily:
1. God is in favor of you

2. You are a person of faithfulness and integrity

3. You have a 100% obedience to what God commands you

    What I receive from Jesus is that if you go over these three check-points, the Holy Spirit will have His own way to tell you what you are missing and how you are doing.

    I am so joyful today because yesterday we experienced a great moment of God found favor in us. Yesterday was the third session of Alpha Course in our Saturday 5p.m. group. When I invited people to receive Jesus as their Saviour and Lord of Life, we experienced a harvest. 

    You can see in the two pictures that all people but one stood up to show that they are certain that they have received Jesus. We had three people received Jesus the first time and they are Christy, Hannah and Yan. We have another one who received Jesus in the last session, Louis, the main chef of Alleluia restaurant. We had four people recommitted their lives to Jesus and they are Tony & Swingie, Angie and Joey. The only one who still can't make that decision is Ah Tong. Please pray for those new believers so that they can live out that three steps as Noah and other God's servants did. Please pray fro Ah Tong that her heart will be softened so that she is willing to opening the door of her heart for Jesus to come in.

     

Dear Lord Jesus,

Lead us to follow Noah's good example to be a faithful disciple of you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
