Bible Study

This passage shows the key to receive God's blessing and a great success. Lots of people try to use all kinds of effort to get what they want so that they can have a great success. But, God does not work like that.

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

Abraham has now several times given up his future, his resources, and his family, or at least indicated he was not too attached to them.  He did so when he left Ur and when he left Harran.  He has done so again in letting Lot choose the best of the country to settle in.  Further, given that Sarah could not have children and his nephew had in effect become part of his family.  Lot would be the future of the family and the family business.  But to avoid conflict, Abraham has encouraged Lot to go off on his own and has thereby also showed himself not too possessive in relation to his future, and even to God's promise about becoming a great nation.

John Goldingay. Genesis for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.155.

Have you got that key to blessing and success?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

The title I heard from Jesus today is: You let go, God bless you

What I got from Jesus today is wonderful. It seems crazy to tell people to let go in order to be blessed and successful. How can that be?

Jesus reminds me now of Matthew 16: 24- 26

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.  For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

May Abram's good example be a model for you to follow. There is no need to fight, to argue, to grasp. Let go! God will bless you, He will protect you and He will provide for you!

You let go, God bless you!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to let go so that we can experience your blessing, protection and provision. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
