Bible Study

     Yesterday's passage gives us a glimpse of the wonderful opportunity to taste a life somewhat Eden-like. But again, human sins closed the door of that window! 

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

     God's unease at the building project focuses on its constituting a kind of assertion of independence, opening up the possibility of further acts of independence.  The issues again parallel those in Genesis 3, but this story considers them at the level of a people, not just an individual or a married couple.  Throughout, the Scriptures assume that peoples and nations banding together is bound to lead to self-assertion against God, not the furtherance of God's purpose.

Spiritual Journal

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Apart from me you can do nothing

    The message I receive from Jesus today is the way not to step into the same mistake of Adam and Eve, those people in today's passage who wanted to build the tower of Babel and all those who think that they can have their own acts of independence without God as their God!

    Jesus says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."  John 15:  5


     With human new technology, new way of living, new success and new everything, we as human beings have made the same mistake centuries after centuries that we always come to a point that we can have our own acts of independence. Thinking and taking action that we do not need God.

     That's why I come into a realization that we would be in great danger if we have one day without an intimate personal relationship with Jesus. Just one day, and you might be off track with Jesus and then on your own track.

     Don't make this mistake! Stay close to Jesus everyday! If you think you can live without Jesus for one day, you might be in a big chaos like those people in today's passage. If those brothers and sisters in your church do not have a daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus, in times it will collapse. Why? Because it is not a church any more, but a club, or even worse, a tower of Babel!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to understand that we cannot stay apart from you at all. Come, Holy Spirit, shine on us that we can be able to see whether we are building up your body, a church or just a club or even a tower of Babel. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
