OT DAY 486 - God Is Here, And He Listens (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

       Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with the saving might of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
                                     Psalm 20:6-7

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (1 Kings 8:10-30)

27 “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built! 28 Yet have regard to the prayer of your servant and to his plea, O Lord my God, listening to the cry and to the prayer that your servant prays before you this day, 29 that your eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that you may listen to the prayer that your servant offers toward this place. 30 And listen to the plea of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. And listen in heaven your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.
                                         1 Kings 8:27-30

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

    My Listening

How often do you feel the presence of God when you worship in your home church? How important it is to you and to your church that you can feel the presence of God when you worship in your home church? Your answer may give you an idea of how close you are with God lately?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:

Exodus and Deuteronomy talk about a column of cloud accompanying the people on their journey from Egypt, about God being in a cloud or thundercloud at Sinai and speaking to the people from there, then about a cloud covering the dwelling that God commissioned the Israelites to make for God. That same cloud and thundercloud is present in the temple in such a way as to signify that God's presence continues to accompany the people…God certainly became present there. Henceforth Israel could know they could come to the temple court and offer their sacrifices there and know they did so before the God who was present in the sanctuary.

Today is our DAY 142 coming to Richmond Emmanuel Church to pray early in the morning. We offer our First Fruit each day non-stop for 142 days! Wow! Monday through Friday at 6:30a.m., Saturday at 8a.m. and Sunday at 7:30a.m. If you ask me, what have you got? My answer is that I experience God's presence each day more and more intense, more and more intimate and more and more powerful! I think those brothers and sisters who keep on joining us to pray like that would agree with what I just said. Especially you look at today's pictures I took as you can see below and you might have a slight idea of how we enjoy the presence of God!

I do hope and pray that you can feel the same as me when you worship at your home church. The powerful presence of God!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our souls when we worship you in your temple so that we can experience your powerful presence.   In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. When was the last time you experienced God's powerful presence?

2. How can you experience God's presence more each day, no matter in your church or elsewhere?

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?
