OT DAY 487 - Go to The Sanctuary to Pray, God Will Listen And Answer (Please click here for English podcast)

Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart's desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips.
                                     Psalm 21:1-2

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (1 Kings 8:31-40)

33 “When your people Israel are defeated before the enemy because they have sinned against you, and if they turn again to you and acknowledge your name and pray and plead with you in this house, 34 then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them again to the land that you gave to their fathers.
35 “When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and acknowledge your name and turn from their sin, when you afflict them, 36 then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as an inheritance.
37 “If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence or blight or mildew or locust or caterpillar, if their enemy besieges them in the land at their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is, 38 whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart and stretching out his hands toward this house,39 then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind), 40 that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.
                                         1 Kings 8:33-37

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

    My Listening

Is there a place that you can offer your prayers more effectively? Well, according to Solomon's prayer, there is, and that is the Sanctuary of your church. How often do you go there to pray?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:

Both the good side and the solemn side link with the fact that the aim and result of God's being involved in answering their prayers will be that they revere God all their days.

Since January 1, 2016, Richmond Emmanuel starts our daily Morning Prayer Meeting 6:30a.m. non-stop for the past 144 days. What we have experienced is that God has answered many prayers and we are a more Christ-centered community as never before. For the past 144 days, I never skip one single day unless I was not in Vancouver. We, those who come often to pray each day, experience the power of what Solomon says in his prayer.

The churches in Korea and in China pray early in the morning at 5a.m. or 6a.m. daily for so many years. We are just one church among many in Vancouver willing to catch this call and take action to pray. Join us if you are in Vancouver. If you are not, ask your pastors to begin daily Morning Prayer Meeting to gather your people to offer your daily First Fruit to God.

Yes, go to pray in the Sanctuary, God will surely listen and answer your prayer!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Tell us in your own ways that to come to the Sanctuary to offer our First Fruit each day to pray is your Holy Will. Give us the strength and courage to take action to come to you each day.   In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
    1. Do you agree with Solomon's prayer that God will listen and answer our prayers  if we go to the Sanctuary to pray?

2. How are you being called to pray like that?

    3. What have you got from Jesus today?
