After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we drive it out?" He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting." Mark 9: 28-29

Most Christians do not have the experience of fasting and do not believe in the power of fasting.

We learned the power of fasting from book of Esther of how she called the whole nation to fast for three days and changed everything upside down. In today's chapter Jesus taught his disciples of the power of fasting that only through fasting could Christians drive some demon out. Well, lots of Christians do not believe in the existence of demon at all!

Three days ago the chairman of the Chinese churches of Greater Vancouver Ministerial Fellowship sent out a letter to call all Chinese Christians to fast today for Canada as today might be the most important day for Canada. A decision day for Canada of whether we will have a good and faithful Parliament.

So, I do call all of you no matter you are in Canada or not to fast from 9a.m. to 6p.m. for Canada and trust in the power of fasting and prayer! Richmond Emmanuel Church will be one of the three centres of fasting and prayer for people to come in to pray from 9a.m. to 5p.m..

Come, let us fast and pray for Canada today!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to know and exercise the power of fasting and prayer. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
