But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. " Luke 5: 16

And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick. Luke 5: 17

This chapter shows us Jesus called four disciples to follow Him and his power to heal. But, the most important message here to me today is just like the link at the bottom of this post from the Chariots of Fire "The power is within".

In order for His disciples to follow Him and exercised His power He needed His lonely "places". Not "place" but "places". I am very sure that it was Jesus daily intimate personal time with His heavenly father. Without the daily withdrawal to His lonely places and prayed there would not be the power of God present for Him to heal and for His disciples to follow Him. Don't forget Jesus is 100% God and 100% human.

Where is your lonely places and will you be there daily? This is a "live or die" question because without this you would not have the power of the Lord presence in you and you can not do anything for the Lord!

Michelle and I had a wonderful daily devotion together and we read the Bible together in today's blog(just click the title above) and she shared what she got today from Jesus. Sorry that it is only in Cantonese version! We'll see next time if she can say "YES" for an English version too.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to follow your example to go to our lonely places daily so that we can have the power of you to be in us to do your work leading people to follow you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
