What would you feel when you lose total control of your life? What would you feel when your leader lose total control?
This passage gives us a condition of this situation. Until the moment in Gethsemane Jesus had been in control of everything. Now he seems falling apart and warning his disciples that they are going to collapse around him.
N.T. Wright says the scene is so intimate and frightening that we feel almost embarrassed to be onlookers. Jesus comes through a time of great struggle, a three-times repeated prayer for rescue from God by calling a very intimate affection and devotion Aramaic word, "Abba, Father". But the answer he got from his father is a word "NO"!
The triple prayer of Jesus in the garden contrasting with the triple renunciation that Peter makes give us the fruit of a most intimate relationship with the Father. Three times Jesus will place himself in the hands of his Abba. Three times Peter, Jesus' right-hand man, will deny that he even knows him.
With or without a most intimate relationship with God will decide whether you can survive a major storm in your life or not!
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Most intimate relationship!
The Lord reminds me of how He called me to start with these three years of writing my two blogs and two podcasts. This is really something I have not experienced before and a true "most intimate relationship" experience, not one time but daily!
With these three years of daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus I survive quite a lot of storms. Not only surviving but I am being strengthened and empowered through those storms because of my daily most intimate relationship with the Lord.
So, do you have this most intimate relationship with the Lord?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to enter into this most intimate relationship with you daily so that we can survive our next storm and be strengthened by you through those storms. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
