Quite a number of leaders in this world like titles and John the Baptist was given big titles like Messiah, Elijah and even the great Prophet Moses! He rejected all and humble himself pointing people to the Messiah.
Servants or stewards are always tempted to take the role of their masters to be the "boss" lording other people. Lots of time they even kill their masters and become the new master and lord!
John the Baptist knew his appointed role very well that he was to prepare the way for the Messiah so that people could go to Him. Do you know you are also appointed in the same role as John the Baptist to prepare the way for other people to go to Jesus? Can you do a better job like what John did?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: You are John the Baptist!
That's what I got from Jesus today. What are those godly characters John had that could help us to be more like him so that we won't take the role of Jesus lording other people but the role of John to point others to Jesus?
Here are some of the godly characters of John. Be teachable and imitate those characters:
1. A simple lifestyle
2. Understand his role is to prepare the way for the Lord
3. Do not take lordship but know that he is just a voice, a messenger and a pioneer for the Lord
Well, we always talk about a lifestyle of Christlikeness. But in the midst of thinking and living out a lifestyle of Christlikeness we may sometimes forget we also need to have a lifestyle of John the Baptist because we are not Jesus. How close are you to the lifestyle of John the Baptist?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know that we have a call and a need to follow the lifestyle of John the Baptist so that your name will be glorified and not ours. . In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
