1. Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2. Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.
Praise and Thanksgiving

2. Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3. Open your heart to praise the Lord
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned as king forever.
Psalm 29:10
Confession and repentance
1. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
2. Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
The Word
Matthew 8:28-34
And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way. 29 And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” 30 Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them. 31 And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.” 32 And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters. 33 The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
My Listening
For the past few days, we were reading passages in Matthew about the total authority of Jesus over disease, over the winds and waves and now over forces of evil.
Bishop N.T. Wright says:
Jesus is somebody with authority over everything that the physical world on the one hand, and the non-physical world on the other, can throw at us. This is a Jesus we can trust with every aspect of our lives...He was a force to be reckoned with. You might follow him, or you might be scared stiff of him, but you couldn't ignore him. That is the Jesus we must follow today, the Jesus we must make known in the world.
N.T. Wright. Matthew for Everyone, Part 1. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.94,95.
Is there any kind of force controlling you that you can not exercise this new force from Jesus? Do you know what kind of force is controlling you now? What is Jesus telling you now through this passage?
What I got from Jesus today is a word for you to use to command all evil forces to leave you: Go! Get lost!
If you have an attitude problem and are controlled by anger, doubt, fear or any negative attitude, command that to go and get lost in the name of Jesus. If you have any kind of addiction controlling you, command that to go and get lost in the name of Jesus.
If you have an attitude problem and are controlled by anger, doubt, fear or any negative attitude, command that to go and get lost in the name of Jesus. If you have any kind of addiction controlling you, command that to go and get lost in the name of Jesus.
Receive this new force from Jesus that no evil force can control you. You are free! And that you can use this new force to free many people from now on!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to have faith to receive this new force from you that we are no longer controlled by any evil force and that you are the only Lord who controls our lives. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Reflect on these questions:
1. Have you experienced any wicked evil force before? Can you share what happened? What is the right way to deal with those evil forces?
2. Is there any kind of force controlling you that you can not exercise this new force from Jesus? Do you know what kind of force is controlling you now?
3. Do you have an attitude problem, controlled by anger, doubt, fear or any negative attitude? Do you have any kind of addiction controlling you? How can you command those evil forces to go and get lost in the name of Jesus?
Family Corner:
1. What has been your family's views towards the supernatural like? Have you been aware of how Jesus sets people free? Or, do you tend to disbelieve the "supernatural"?
