After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your every great reward." But Abram said, "O Sovereign Lord what can you give me since I remain chidless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" Genesis 15: 1-2
What I received from Jesus today is: What do you afraid of?
Abram just won a mighty warfare so he should not be afraid of anything of that kind. What did Abram afraid of?
Everyone has something to be afraid of unless you are very, I mean "very" secure in our Lord Jesus Christ! What do you afraid of?
For Abram, the only thing he was afraid of was that he had no son, no heir! God gave him promise by a very clear covenant. We know that from the next chapter he got it wrong and had a son not with his wife but with his wife's maidservant! Why? May be he thought his wife was too old to have a baby and he just didn't feel right to do it?! Or he did not have that intimate relationship with his wife for a long time and he did not want to do it! God just showed Abram what he could do by a total victory that was impossible. Is having a baby with his wife more difficult and impossible for Abram to do?!
What do you afraid of?
Next time when God tells you to do something you think if impossible, do you have the courage to act?
Dear Lord Jesus,
Tell us what do we really afraid of. Help us to have the courage to do the thing you are sure is possible but we think is impossible. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
