Then Shechem's father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob. Now Jacob's sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem, had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying wth Jacob's daughter - a thing that should not be done.
Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah't brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.
Genesis 34: 6-7, 25
What I received from Jesus today is: Anger and killing won't work!
Yes, anger and killing won't work, it would make things worse! Right after Jacob had a striking face to face experience with God in the last chapter his sons made a city a killing field! They did not know the act might cost their lives according to what Jacob said. He and his household would be destroyed!
So, next time you are angry and want to do something foolish please kneel down and pray so that you won't do those things the Lord doesn't want you to do. God wants you to be a channel of His peace and not an instrument of destruction!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be a channel of Your peace and not an instruction of destruction. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
