Bible Study
Jesus speaks here about how His message will be received in the world using the example of a farmer went out to sow. Some who hear will not understand(v. 15). Some will believe the message, receive Christ's forgiveness and begin a personal relationship with god, but when faced with tough times or opposition, they give up their loyalty to God and eventually fall away from Him. Some will accept Christ, commit their lives to him, serving him and grow in their relationship with God for a period of time. But at some point they become spiritually distracted by the concerns or pleasures of life and give up their relationship with God in order to pursue other purposes. It's again talking about who's the "insider" and who's the "outsider". If you are the "insider", you can't imagine how fruitful you can become!
Which group do you belong to? Are you "insider" or "outsider"?
Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"
My Spiritual Journal
What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you insider or outsider?
I have read this parable hundreds of times and every time Jesus challenge me whether I am totally in or not? There are so many distractions in life that we are being pull aside or even pull outside as an outsider. The key is how do we treasure His Word and let it grow in us. It is all about how much time we spend in reading the Bible? How much we understand the Bible? How much time we are willing to be with Jesus each day to allow His living Word to speak to us and that we have an intimate personal relationship with Him.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know how to prepare good soil for your Word to grow in us and that we are willing to spend more time with you daily to listen to your living Word. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
