Bible Study

John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus with a very simple but important message:

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near (Matthew 3:2).

Jesus picked up John's baton with the same message again, creating a momentum:

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near (Matthew 4:17; Mark 1:15).

Mark adds one more word of this important message - believe the good news.

Actually the good news is the message in Matthew:

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.

Repentance means to confess our sins, asking for forgiveness and that we can enter into His Kingdom, being filled by the Holy Spirit and live according to His Kingdom plan.

The following of Jesus of His first four disciples is a classical example of what does it means by "Repent,for the kingdom of heaven is near". They left what they were doing as a family business for at least three to four generations to follow Jesus and His Kingdom plan.

Have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to God as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Following Jesus!

What I received from Jesus are two questions for you to respond to His call:

1. Have you entered into His Kingdom and living in His Kingdom plan or are you wondering around without any direction?
2. How does Jesus calls you to follow Him? In what kind of way, job, ministry has Jesus been calling you to serve Him as in His Kingdom plan?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for calling me to repent and enter into your Kingdom. Lead me to know in what area you call me to serve you as in Your Kingdom plan and help me to be willing to follow you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
