DAY 394 - Trust or Rebel! Live or Die! (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Dear brothers and sisters,

A good news!
To make a better momentum of the second stage of ACiC/AI's four years plan "Evangelist123" to be launched this coming Sunday, Easter Sunday, I am going to have a total paradigm shift of my way of writing this blog and podcast. I start the change of format today as you see there are two parts now. Part 1 is Bible Study and Part 2 is a sharing of my daily spiritual journal. This is to help you to be able to understand God's Word in a better way. I am going to use two main sources for the preparation to write my daily Bible study:
1. A Guide to The Books of The New Testament for Everyone by N.T.Wright

2. The Expositor's Bible Commentary

I am going to start the change in the content on Easter Sunday. I'll stop the Old Testament series on Numbers and start from New Testament again. The first book I start Day 1 this Sunday will be the Gospel of Mark.

I hope and pray that this new change will give you a more solid way to study the whole Bible daily and a better and more accurate way of your listen and obey spiritual journey!

The easiest way is to take one hour slot for the whole week. What you need to do is very simple. Choose one dayThe easiest way is to take one hour slot for the whole week then prayerfully remembering the ministry of ACiC(ACiC has two Networks: ACiC, Anglican Coalition in Canada and AI, Asian Initiative). You may use the whole hour in prayer or you can still do you work in your office but use as much time as you can to pray and the other time work prayerfully that hour to pray for our ministry. I deeply believe that this is a way to draw as many participation as we can in prayers. I encourage you to participate. We need you to join us! Trust in the power of prayers!

Bible Study
1. Oppose God chosen leaders in order to get control

Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites - Dathan and Abiram, songs of Eliab, and On son of Peleth - became insolent and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council. They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, "You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord's assembly?" Numbers 16: 1-3

Moses said to Korah, "God has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too. It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble against him?" Numbers 16: 10-11

Three ambitious Levites who tried to manipulate circumstances to get more power and a higher position for themselves as priests (v. 10) They challenged Moses' authority as leader and Aaron's position as the high priest (vv. 3-11). They rejected God about who would lead God's people.

2. God is always in control

As soon as Moses finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, with their households and all Korah's men and all their possessions.
Numbers 16: 31-32

God brought swift and decisive judgement on them (vv. 31-35) as a lesson for all who defy God's authority in an attempt to get control.

3. Most people are blind

The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. "You have killed the Lord's people," they said. Numbers 16: 41

But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah. Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for the plague had stopped.
Numbers 16: 49-50

It is impossible that the Israelites complained against Moses as if he had caused the judgment that Korah's family and 250 men who were offering the incense died. The people had been so blind and deceived that they thought the rebels were the real spiritual men among them. We need wisdom and discernment to make sure that we do not follow leaders who are not following God.

Let me have three questions for you to start your listen and obey process:
1. Have you join in a group of rebels to oppose God chosen leaders before? Why? Are you still in that group of people? Or, do you know anyone in those groups? Can you pull them out and help them to re-establish the trust to God's servants?

2. Do you want to get control in your church just as that group of people? Do you know God's is always in control?

3. Do you belong to those group of people who are blind and unable to see God's work?

My Spiritual Journal
What I heard from Jesus today is: Trust or rebel! Live or die!

It's so easy to be deceive by the Deceiver or by our own pride and self-righteousness to pull the trust away from those we used to trust, especially God chosen leaders. Lots of time we are really blind and unable to discern who are the real spiritual leaders!

The thing we may not know is that it is just a very simple choice. Not choosing God chosen leaders will sooner or later become rebel against God chosen leaders. And then, sooner or later it would become a purely life or die choice for you and your church!

Be close to Jesus daily so that you can choose wisely!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to trust your chosen leaders. We want to choose life, to live and not die. Open our eyes to see you Lord Jesus. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
