To conclude the whole section of warning his disciples to be ready and awake at all time, Jesus gives a definition of a faithful and wise servant.
It is being said by quite a number of Christian leaders including my personal coach, Dr. Terry Walling, that when Christians are being asked one question, "Who would you like the first thing Jesus say to you when you get to heaven." The answer is always, "You are a good and faithful servant!" Every Christian wants to be named as a good and faithful servant according to what Jesus says in Matthew 25: 14-30.
Here in this passage, just 13 verses before the famous "good and faithful servant", we have one more word added and that is "wise". What is wise?
According to N.T. Wright, he says:
But now the point of 'wisdom' and 'folly' is not just being able to do what God wants in any and every situation. If the living Go might knock at the door at any time, wisdom means being ready at any time. What's more, once Jesus has come, bringing God's kingdom to bear on the world, being wise or being foolish means knowing, or not knowing what time it is in God's timetable. Wisdom consists not least, now, in realizing that the world has turned a corner with the coming of Jesus and that we must always be ready to give an account of ourselves.
So, what is a faithful, wise and good servant according to this passage:
1. Responsible: take good care of those whom God put to our charge in God's way.
2. Always ready: be ready and awake at all time to be like Jesus, doing his kingdom ministry and ready for Jesus to come back any time.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Are you a faithful and wise servant?
What I got from Jesus today is a question of a lifetime and the first thing that most Christians would like to hear when we are in heaven.
If we really want to hear that from Jesus, how are we doing lately to be responsible in all areas that Jesus put us to take charge. Read it carefully, it's not the work, but people. We always think of doing work for Jesus, how good have we been doing for Jesus. But here, read carefully. It is not work, they are people. Jesus has given you some people to take care of in your lifetime. How well are you taking good care of them?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our eyes to see what you want us to do is not work and tasks only but most important is to take care of those you put into our charge. Lead us to take good care of them. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
