Paul points out in this passage that the reality is sin dwells in everyone, including Paul. The law cannot help Paul to get rid of the sin dwells within him. You need to know that Paul is using present tense and not past tense. Which means Paul as an apostle of God at that time and sin still dwells with him.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
If anything could demonstrate the problem faced by Israel, this would be it: that however much God's people struggled to obey God's law, they ended up like the rest of the world, in a state of moral incapability...
God wanted sin to be brought to its full height in order that He might then deal with it, condemn it, punish it once and for all.  But where was sin to grow to full height?  Paradoxically, in Israel, the very people God had called to be the light of the world.  Why?  In order that in the person of Israel's representative, the Messiah, sin might be drawn onto one spot and condemned once and for all.

How do you feel when you are being told now by Paul and me that sin also dwells within you? Even you are a good Christian, a leader or even a pastor. How can you not let sin to control you to become its slave?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Sin dwells within Paul? How about you?

What I got from Jesus today is a moment of self-awareness. An awareness that you and me can never deal with sin. No matter how good you are, how much you learn, how many degrees you have and how much you have contributed to your church, you can never deal with sin.

I have seen too many examples of how weak human beings can be. One day you think that someone is your good friend, next day he or she is the one who wants desperately to take you out. How can it be? Well, Paul already says it here in today's passage, because we are human and even sin dwells within Paul himself. What can we say!

Be careful! Watch out! Let Jesus to have a total control on you each day, just like a slave. That is the only way! No other way!

If sin dwells within Paul, can you escape?  Are you better than Paul? Are you a human being?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to know that we cannot escape sin and we desperately need you each day. You are the only way to life.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
