Paul points out in the last passage that the reality is sin dwells in everyone, including Paul. In this passage, he even tell us the reality that everyone is just like a prisoner of war to be captured by sin in a prisoner-or-war camp. No one can escape. The only way is for Jesus to take them out of this camp.

Bishop N.T. Wright's says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
The result of the analysis is that the 'I' finds itself a prisoner of war (verse 23).  A battle has been going on.  The mind of the faithful Israelite has been engaged on the side of wanting to keep God's law, but sin has been fighting powerfully on the other side.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:Romans: Part 1. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.112.

Do you aware that we are prisoners of war like what Paul describes? Are you a prisoner of war being captured in the prisoner-of-war camp now? Do you know how you can escape?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: The great escape

What I got from Jesus today is the title of a 1963 movie "The Great Escape". One of my most favourite movie of all times. With famous movie stars as Steve McQueen, James Garner, James Coburn and Charles Bronson.

It's about the story of the Germans opening a maximum security prisoner-of-war camp in 1943 designed to hold even the craftiest escape artists. But, instead of holding all those first class escape team in military history, a group of soldiers successfully worked out the largest prison breakout every attempted. Yes, many soldiers died because of that great escape, but a large group escaped.

Do you think you can form an escape team to get away from the well designed maximum security prisoner-of-war camp of Satan? Yes or no. Why? No, if you want to try by human effort. Yes, if you have Jesus to take you out of the camp and then safely arrive in another camp, the body of Christ and that is the Church. You need Jesus to save you and you need Jesus and your "good" church to protect you from not being captured again.

Are you in the prisoner-of-war camp now? Are you planning for your great escape? Or, are you enjoying everyday the fresh anointing from the Holy Spirit being with Jesus and other brothers and sisters in the Kingdom of God?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be with you in your Kingdom each day that we won't be captured by Satan into his prisoner-of-war camp. If we are in that camp, help us to know that and save us, take us out of that camp.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
