DAY 493 - Receive, Recognize And Exercise The Gifts (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)

Today's Reading: Romans 12:6-13

Last passage tells us the real secret to discern God's will is first to be transformed by the Holy Spirit and be united into one body as part of the many members to build up that body. Here in this passage talks about how we receive new gifts from the Holy Spirit and how our church can recognize our gifts so that we can exercise those gifts to work as a better and better team to build up the whole church.

If so, the fruit will surface as describes in the second part of today's passage, verses 9 to 13. Sincere love, purity, goodness, fellowship, honoring each others, zealous, joyful, patient in suffering, faithful in prayers and hospitality. If these actions do not surface, then we must be messing up the body of Christ and not building up the body of Christ.

So, are you building up the body of Christ or messing up the body of Christ?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: Receive, recognize and exercise the gifts

What I got from Jesus today is a practical way to know whether we are really being transformed by the Holy Spirit. We will receive some new gifts, our church will recognize those gifts and we should be able and willing to exercise those gifts. Then, better relationship will happen, effective fellowship will surface and true spiritual lifestyle will happen. And, your church will be "on fire"!

Richmond Emmanuel Church is "on fire" lately. Our three Sunday services have shown a significance growth. Especially our English service is having a triple growth the past nine month, from 20 to more than 60. All three service in total reaching more than 400 people every Sunday. And, we started this year's Alpha in four groups, Cantonese, Mandarin, English and children. We are having more than 200 each Saturday night. 100 of them are non-belivers! And, this is the first time Rev. Eliza and me to be the speakers of all the talks and not playing the DVD of Rev. Nicky Gumbel (as recommended by Alpha as the best way to do Alpha), English Alpha uses the newest Alpha Canada DVD and Mandarine played the original Alpha DVD. Is that wonderful!

Please pray for us that this "on fire" phenomenon will continue, more people will come to Jesus, more leaders will be raised up and the body of Christ will be built up.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Lead us to be able to receive the gifts and be willing to exercise our gifts. Help our churches to be able to recognize all those gifts of our people so that your body will be built up. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
