Bible Study

In this passage Paul gives a clear teaching about the resurrection of Jesus:
1. If Jesus has been raised, then it proves He is the Messiah. Because God has reversed the verdict of the court, which found him guilty of being a lier that He was the Messiah.

2. If he wasn't raised from the dead, He wasn't and isn't the Messiah. His Cross had no meaning. Nothing has been changed at all.

Bishop N.T. Wright says ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :
Paul's strongest argument in this passage is to point up the link between sin and death (verse 17).  If Jesus has been raised, the power of death has been broken, and final victory over it is assured (verse 26).  Death, as always in biblical thought, is the result of sin, as humans turn away from the life-giving God and vainly attempt to find life elsewhere (see Romans 5:12-14).  So if death has been defeated it must mean that sin has been defeated as well.

N.T. Wright. Paul for Everyone:1 Corinthians. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2004, p.209.

So, are you sure that Jesus has been raised? Why are you so sure? Have you seen the risen Lord as Paul and the others did to be so sure?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: Have you seen the risen Lord?

What I got from Jesus today is a very, very important question. A question to help us moving forward in faith no matter what happen to our life. A question to lead us to be able to finish well.

If your answer is NO, then you are in danger of experiencing your faith second hand or more but not first hand. Your life would not have the power to change and renewal because only Jesus can help you to do that, not learning, not from other family members, other people or other source.

If you have seen the risen Lord, have experienced His presence, then death is no more a threat to you and sin cannot grasp you into darkness. But, quite a number of Christians are still talking and sharing about their born again experience or a renewal experience happened many years ago. That is not enough! Once the experience of the risen Lord becomes a past tense, then you are in danger of returning to the sinful mode and have the world as you Lord and not Jesus as your Lord.

Jesus is Lord! Have you seen the risen Lord daily?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Open our eyes to see you daily that we won't be grasp by sin and death cannot threaten us any more. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
