Bible Study

James concludes this important book of James teaching all of us the importance of prayers. It seems that he wants to tell us of all the things he talks about faith without works is dead, prayers is the most important work we need to do.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

To finish this letter, then, with a call to prayer, though perhaps unexpected, is quite appropriate.  Prayer must surround everything else that we do, whether sad or happy, suffering or cheerful.

N.T. Wright. The Early Christian Letters for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.41-42.

Do you know how important prayer really is? How much do you pray?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: How much do you pray?

The message I got from Jesus today is a reminder as well as invitation to pray like never before.

Today is Father's Day. We baptized Mr. Kenneth Lo, the previous owner of Happy Day Restaurant today. A glorious day indeed!

Why? Before for so many years quit a number of our brothers and sisters have been trying our best to invite Mr. Lo to receive Jesus. Every time when I went to Mr. Lo's restaurant I went to shake hand with him and try to say something about Jesus. We have been waiting for this day to come and today he is being baptized. Mr. Lo said he had been chasing by demons lately and when he said the sinner's prayer a month ago, those demons were gone and he has a peace he never had before. He told me today after his baptism, "Bishop, you need to visit me often." He knows now that he needs Jesus and need to be with Christian brothers and sisters.

We never know how much prayers behind his willing to receive Jesus. To me, it is just like what James says in the last two verses of the book of James:
My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,  let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Let us pray more in all circumstance so that we can help more souls to be saved! Thank you Lord for giving us an opportunity to witness Mr. Lo's baptism today!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to understand the importance of prayer and be willing to pray as much as we can.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
