Bible Study

Peter tells us in yesterday's passage that our new way of living needs to be holy so that we can be worthy of being members of the royal priesthood. Here in this passage, Peter reminds us that the example of Jesus we follow will be full of injustice, wickedness and suffering.

Let's take a look at what Bishop N.T. Wright says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright ) :

The key to it all, of course, is that the crucifixion of the Messiah was the most unjust and wicked act the world had ever seen.  Here was the one man who deserved nothing but praise and gratitude, and they rejected him, beat him up, and killed him.

N.T. Wright. The Early Christian Letters for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2011, p.70-71.

You have to go through that, are you willing? Are you ready?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe":  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmax47l2hLU

Spiritual Journal

The title I heard from Jesus today is: Be ready to following Jesus' example to suffer

The message I got from Jesus today is a reminder to us that following Jesus' example means suffering. Is that good or bad? Of course good! Why? Because many people would be saved, healed and be found if we are willing.

Through our willingness to follow Jesus' example, we are truly under our "Shepherd and Overseer of our souls". How wonderful!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to follow your example to suffer that many would be saved, healed and be found. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
