Starting from four days days ago we add one important thing to our daily devotion. We start our devotion with one to two verses from the Psalms to praise God. We always have so limited vocabulary when we want to praise God. Let's learn from the Psalms so that we can be able to praise God in a better way:

You are my Lord;

    I have no good apart from you.                  Psalm 16:2

Bible Study

      Today's passage starts with the stupidity of Isaac telling people that his wife is his sister, just like what his father Abraham did. Then, it talks about a totally different picture of how well Isaac has been doing so that other people see God is with Isaac. How wonderful it can be if people see God is with you.  

Let's take a look at what Professor John Goldingay says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

    

     This story about Isaac and his wife is told in a distinctive way.  But the occurrence of another story like the ones about Abraham and Sarah raises the question of why these men were so stupid.  Did they never learn? Further, why does Genesis include three of these stories about someone passing on his wife as his sister and risking her ending up in the king's bed?... 

     In extraordinary contrast with the account of Isaac's stupidity, Genesis goes on to describe how well Isaac did in Abimelech's country.

      What have you got today with this big contrast of stupidity and good work well done? How do you understand our weakness as a human being and the power of being God's servant?

    The title I heard from Jesus today is: Does people see plainly God is with you?

    What Jesus tells me today is a reminder of our daily witness. With the natural weakness of us as human beings, it is impossible for us to bear witness so that other people see plainly God is with us.

     So, let me ask you plainly today, "Does people see plainly God is with you?" What is your answer? 

     What do you have to do so that people see plainly God is with you?

     The answer for me is, we do not need to do lots of thing so that people see plainly God is with us. But, we need to be with Jesus each daily so that we are being transformed by Jesus each day that people see plainly God is with us.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to be with you each day in a real and intimate way so that people see plainly you are with us.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
