Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

I will also praise you with the harp
                               for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praises to you with the lyre,
                        Holy One of Israel.
23          My lips will shout for joy,
                             when I sing praises to you;
my soul also, which you have redeemed.
                             Psalm 71:22-23

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Numbers 20:14-29)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=numbers+20&version=ESV

23 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor, on the border of the land of Edom, 24 “Let Aaron be gathered to his people, for he shall not enter the land that I have given to the people of Israel, because you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son and bring them up to Mount Hor.26 And strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son. And Aaron shall be gathered to his people and shall die there.” 27 Moses did as the Lord commanded. And they went up Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. 28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son. And Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain. 29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron had perished, all the house of Israel wept for Aaron thirty days.
                             Numbers 20:23-29

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
We can see right away the consequence of not upholding God as holy. God announced the retirement of Aaron, removing Aaron's authority and Aaron died right after that.

If you are a movie director, how could you capture these three scenes? Sad, shocking and terrible! Why God do that? Is that too cruel to a once faithful servant but just made one mistake? Well, you are not God, so don't make any judgement. That's God's judgement showing to all Israelites and us. That's the consequence of not upholding God as holy!

So, next time if God commands you to do some difficult job and you are sure that's from God. Be strong and courageous, do it. People will see the power of our Holy God.

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

My heart was pounding a minute ago because I sense our Lord Jesus Christ would like me to share this personal story happened last week. Actually God used last Wednesday's title "Go or No Go" to command me to have four "Go": made two telephone calls, told our church story to a friend and ask him one question "Can you help us?". By this four "Go", Richmond Emmanuel Church experienced the blessing of upholding God as holy and we see God's holy and mighty power at work that we have received a donation of Cad$600K to make what we had 1.9M to exactly 2.5 million dollars as what we had in our vision one and a half year ago.

Today we see the consequence of not upholding God as holy because Moses and Aaron did not have the courage to do something impossible.

Today I share with all of you the blessing of upholding God as holy because God gave me an opportunity to live out "Go or No Go" to respond to His four "Go"! I listened and obeyed, and our first stage of church building project is completed, mission accomplished!

     Holy God, Holy and Mighty!
     Praise the Lord!
     May God's Name be glorified!

Reflect on these questions:
1. Have you learned some new things in today's message concerning with the consequence of not upholding God as holy? Do you know what it really means now? Receive blessing or suffer consequence, which one you will choose next time God gives you a task beyond your ability?

2. How can you be more courageous to do something impossible when God tells you to do?

Praise and Thanksgiving
