Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

15 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
    bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
    who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

         Psalm 103:1-5

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Joshua 4:15-24)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua 4&version=ESV

15 And the Lord said to Joshua, 16 “Command the priests bearing the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.” 17 So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.” 18 And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, as before.
19 The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they encamped at Gilgal on the east border of Jericho. 20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up at Gilgal. 21 And he said to the people of Israel,“When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’22 then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’23 For the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over,24 so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”   Joshua 4:15-24

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Why did God command the Israelites to take twelve stones from the bottom of Jordan to put them in Gilgal? What has that to do with them? What has that to do with us?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

For the sake of the generation entering Canaan, Joshua is full of anticipation regarding what is going to be; for the sake of coming generations, it emphasizes remembering. In Israel's later story, Gilgal is an important place of worship. With the age-old city of Jericho having lost importance, this place on the edge of its territory can become important for Israel as a place that commemorates their arrival in the country. Samuel leads Israel in confirming Saul's appointment as king there; twice in Saul's time it is a place of sacrifice (1 Samuel 11-15); Elijah and Elisha have a base there (2 Kings 1-4); and Hosea and Amos mention it as a place of sacrifice and pilgrimage. One can imagine Joshua's scenario being realized as Israelite families gather here for a festival and children point to the twelve stones and ask what they signify; and if they fail to do so because they are too busy running to the river to wade and swim, their fathers will tell them anyway over dinner.

How many faces can you recall now who have helped you to be more closer to Jesus the past five years? What have you done so far to thank them for sacrificing their time, energy and many things for you? Have you forgotten their benefits to you?

Where can you find your twelve stones for you to remember God's benefits to you? Have you forgotten what God has done as your Provider?

Yesterday I experienced something quite disturbing and discouraged. Praise to the Lord that I received an email from Rev. David Larlee early this morning, one of the priests at All Saints Dallas(Our Apostolic Vicar Bishop Philip Jones' church) and our key note speaker of this year's AM-Canada Leadership Conference in May. His word of encouragement shows how God always does things miraculously and the timing He does thing is always so wonderful. Dave allows me to share his message with all of you.

Good Morning +Silas!

I wanted to encourage you with something the lord put on my heart for you this morning as I was praying for you:

I had a sense that the Lord is using your voice and teaching ministry to release the Roar of Heaven - so that as people hear the sound

1) his redeeming power will be released into people's lives - especially those who do not believe - a sense of Jesus' redemption being put to motion in people's lives through everyday conversations with you.
2) in Your church it will mean a release of creativity and breakthrough. I also had a sense that the release of kingdom generosity was only phase 1 - phase 2 will be a huge release of creativity and phase 3 will be breakthrough as the impossible bows down to the name of Jesus.

I trust this is an encouragement - praying for you!

Blessings

Dave

I saw God act this morning! I won't forget his benefits! How about you?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us not to forget your benefits so that we can see you act. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you know how forgetful you are to God and other people who have helped you?

2. What have you done so far as a sign of thanksgiving to God and those God prepares to bless you?

3. What have you got from Jesus today?
