OT DAY 323 - God Punish Those Who Ignore His Servant's Warning (Please click here for English podcast)

1. Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence

2. Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2. Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

“At the cost of his firstborn shall he
lay its foundation,
and at the cost of his youngest son
shall he set up its gates.”

27 So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Yesterday's passage teaches us the blessing of protecting God's servants, praying for God's servants. Today's passage teaches us the punishment of ignoring God servant's warning.

Joshua clearly warned his people the curse of those who rebuild that sin city Jericho. Do you think it is real? Do you think it will happen?

Yes, it happened! Let's read 1 Kings 16:34:

In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation at the cost of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

It is so sad that nowadays Christians do not pray for God's servants, their pastors or to listen to their sincere or sometimes severe warning. Quite a number of them choose to do the opposite, saying bad words to slander God's servants, not listening or even ignore their warnings.

How good it is if we can live out Psalm 128:1:

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Show us how to listen and obey to your command through your servants. Help us not to ignore their warning so that we will be blessed. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you think God really would punish those who ignore His servant's warning?

2. In your memory, have you ignore the warning of God's servant? What is the result of that?

3. What have you got from Jesus today?
