Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

15 But you, O God my Lord,
    deal on my behalf for your name's sake;
because your steadfast love is good, deliver me!

         Psalm 109:21

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Joshua 6:22-25)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Joshua 6&version=ESV

22 But to the two men who had spied out the land, Joshua said, “Go into the prostitute's house and bring out from there the woman and all who belong to her, as you swore to her.” 23 So the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab and her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her. And they brought all her relatives and put them outside the camp of Israel. 24 And they burned the city with fire, and everything in it. Only the silver and gold, and the vessels of bronze and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord. 25 But Rahab the prostitute and her father's household and all who belonged to her, Joshua saved alive. And she has lived in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
  Joshua 6:22-25

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
Today's passages give us a picture full of chaos. How can Rahab and her family live? Impossible!

When God act, impossible always become possible. When God wants to show forth His justice, no one can escape. When God have mercy, sinners can be saved. And, when Rahab had that courage and faith to protect God's servants, she became one of Jesus ancestors! A prostitute becomes one of Jesus, the Messiah, God's son's ancestors! Can you believe that can happen?!

Let's read Matthew 1: 1-6 :

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king.

We can see in Joshua that Rahab was a prostitute who had no husband. We can see from Matthew that Rahab married Salmon and gave birth to the famous Boaz, the husband of Ruth! Rahab changed! No more a prostitute because of God's saving act and she became a house wife who raised up Boaz, an extremely wealthy man of God(Ruth 2:1)! Wow! That's a big deal!

This is a good example for us to start a new lifestyle today. A lifestyle to pray for God's servants each day, especially those who have been appointed by God to minister to you. Pray for them. Protect them. Bless them. Because in doing this you will be richly blessed and protected.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to know the importance of praying and protecting our pastors so that we will be richly blessed and protected by you.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. How often do you pray for your pastors? How much have you done to protect your pastors?

2. What have you got from Jesus today?
