Silence
1. Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2. Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method http://bishopsilas.blogspot.ca/2009/08/count-down-5-subject-shifting-devotion.html)
1. Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
2. Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

Today's main passage:
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God. 2 Corinthians 2:14-17
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him.
My Listening
It would be so good if we really can "spread the aroma of Jesus and to kick out the stink of this world"! How to do it?
1. Jesus is the victorious general
In 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 Paul gives us a picture of how the victorious Roman general leads a triumphal procession.
Before his chariot there should be quite a number of soldiers holding thuribles spreading the pleasing aroma of incense. It gives people a sense of smell and visual effect of glorious scene.
The smell of the incense represent the aroma of the general and his victory, and the smoky scene gives people a mystical appearance of the general. A glorious atmosphere indeed!
But, what Paul wants to describe of that victorious general is Jesus Christ Himself!
2. We are the defeated captives of Jesus
2 Corinthians 2:14 " who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession"!
When we are willing to be Jesus' captives, when we are willing to surrender to Jesus' Lordship, that is Jesus victorious and glorious time because Jesus is Lord and Jesus is King of our lives!
3. Spread the aroma of Jesus, kick out the stink of this world
Jesus will send us to spread that pleasing aroma in us because Jesus is our Lord and King and we are able to kick out the stink of this world in a very special way!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be your captives so that you can send us to spread the aroma of you and that we are able to kick out the stink of this world. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Reflect on these questions:
1. What kind of inspiration and invitation have you received from today's message ?
2. What is your next step to become Jesus' captives so that He can send you to spread the aroma of Him and that you are able to kick out the stink of this world?
