Bible Study

This passage is Jesus' very serious warning to everyone who do not want to live a lifestyle of a different kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, a lifestyle of Christlikeness.

N.T. Wright says:
Jesus was offering a last chance to embrace a different kingdom-vision.  He had outlined it in his great sermon and the teaching he was giving in towns and villages all over Galilee.  He was living it out on the street, and in houses filled with laughter and friendship.  He was showing how powerful it was with his healings.  And they didn't want it - and were ready to use any excuses ('He's got a demon!''He's a guzzler and boozer!''He's the one they warned us about') to avoid the issue.

Actually you are every clear about what your lifestyle should be and what are the Kingdom value and standard, right? But, how well are you living out those standards? What are your excuses?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

What I heard from Jesus today is: What are your excuses to avoid me?

What I got today from Jesus is a personal question. A question sometimes for some lovers when one partner wants to pull out not having a closer relationship.

When Jesus asks you this, he is expecting to have a closer relationship with you.  What are those excuses to avoid Jesus to be your top no. 1?

You won't know until you are willing to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal those excuses. And those excuses are what we call sins! You need to repent and return to Jesus before it's too late!

Jesus says, "the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it."

Jesus says, "Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is near!"

Dear Holy Spirit,
Reveal our excuses! Help us to be able to confess all those sins that Jesus cannot be our Lord and that we are following other lords and other lifestyle but not a lifestyle to be more like Jesus.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
