Do you understand why the leaders were so angry to hear that Peter and John claimed that it was Jesus and not the two of them to heal the crippled? What's the big deal to say, "It's not me. It's Jesus!"?

N.T. Wright's gives us the answer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
So what was it about this early message which got the authorities, and others too, so alarmed and angry?  Wouldn't it be simply great news to know that God was alive and well and was providing a wonderful rescue operation through his chosen Messiah?
Answer: not if you were already in power.

N.T. Wright. Acts for Everyone, Part 1. Louisville,KY:Westminster John Knox Press, 2008, p.58, 59-60.

Do you get it? World politics, church politics, company politics, family politics and all kinds of politics is all about power. It's me. Not Jesus. I am in control. I am the boss. Not you. Don't get Jesus to scare me!

What have you got from Jesus today?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

What I heard from Jesus today is: It's not me. It's Jesus!

What I got from Jesus is an encouragement for us to courageously strive forward to lift up His mighty Name. It feels good when some people tell you that you have done a wonderful job, right? How can you tell them it is Jesus, not you? Would people understand when you say that? Do you really mean it when you say that? Do you really deeply believe it is not you but Jesus?

"Salvation is found in no one else!" Do you know how many Christians leaders burn-out because they wanted to be the Saviour? Do you noticed the importance of verse 8: Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them.

It is with a constant filling with the Holy Spirit that we can come into an awareness that it is Jesus, not us.

Dear Holy Spirit,
Fill us and pour down your fresh anointing on us so that we can always come into an awareness that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
