DAY 374 - How Are You Going to Live This Life? (請按此處收聼廣東話Cantonese podcast click here)


There is some complication for Leslie today, need your prayers!
This is the Message from Nevia, his mother at 11:10p.m. yesterday(May 27 Monday):
He Just finish a surgery around 7p.m. They put glue to mend his leak lung. He should be fine but have to check tomorrow to see if it work or not.
If not, they will cut the part which infected and it will be a big surgery.


Let's pray that Leslie do not need a big surgery.  






He has a small hole in his lung due to the virus attack the past two week and a new bacteria is being found in his lung.  The doctors need to make a decision tomorrow of how to tackle with this "minor" problem.

Bible Study

      Something very special happens in today's passage but most people usually do not award of that. Long before the followers of Jesus were named Christians (Acts 11:25), people did not know how to name this new movement. Here is the only time in the Bible that it referred to as "the Life" or "the new Life". The angel gave them an urgent task to do after they had the apostles out of prison. And, the urgent job is to 'go and speak to the people the full message of this Life."(ESV) 
     What the apostles were doing was quite simply to live in a wholly new way.  Nobody had lived like this before; that, indeed, was one of the extraordinary challenges which impinged on people as the gospel set off around the wider world.  This was 'a way of life', as we say, that people hadn't ever tried.  In fact, nobody had ever imagined it...
     The apostles were teaching 'the words of this Life'; the authorities were increasingly worried that they were undermining the very fabric of Judaism as they had known it, and so were desperate to prevent them taking things any further. But, as the next passage reveals, they were in danger of fighting, not against a human movement, but against God himself.

     Have you been fighting very hard trying to live this Life but unsuccessful? It is a total change of your way of thinking and lifestyle. To John Stott, it is very simple, just one word: Christlikeness. To most Christians, it is always so complicated because put the simple new way of Life to theory but are unable to live it out.

      How are you living this Life determine whether you are following Jesus  or not. 
                      
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"



Spiritual Journal

     What I heard from Jesus today is: How are you going to live this Life?

    What I got from Jesus is a challenge for us to follow the good example of those apostles to tell the people everything about this Life. They were out of prison and right away they began to teach the people again.

     We see in this case that there was an angle taking them out of the prison in a miraculous way. We see in other case that apostles were being killed, Paul stayed in prison for two years. We really do not know who can get out, be saved and who cannot. That's not a big deal. The big deal is that we need to have the courage and the zealousness to 'tell the people the full message of this 'new' Life. NIV adds "new" before Life to help us to know what is happening. But, I like the original this Life better.

      How are you going to live this Life? 
             
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to live this Life well.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
