Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

       Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
           sing the glory of his name;
           give to him glorious praise!
        Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
        So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you.
        All the earth worships you
            and sings praises to you;
            they sing praises to your name.”
                             Psalm 66:1-4

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Leviticus 25:1-26:2)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus 25&version=ESV

18 “Therefore you shall do my statutes and keep my rules and perform them, and then you will dwell in the land securely. 19 The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and dwell in it securely. 20 And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year, if we may not sow or gather in our crop?’ 21 I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year, so that it will produce a crop sufficient for three years. 22 When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating some of the old crop; you shall eat the old until the ninth year, when its crop arrives.
                              Leviticus 25: 18-22

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
     We should know that God is the ultimate Provider in all things. But, do we really believe? Here in this chapter, God gives the Israelites a test to see whether they believe or not.

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     Like the detailed schedule for the annual festivals in Leviticus 23, these instructions for the Sabbath year and the treatment of the poor expand on the outline in Exodus 22-23.  One of their underlying assumptions is that the land belongs to God. People recognize that the week belongs to God by holding themselves back from one day in seven, and that offspring belong to God by dedicating the first fruits of the womb, and that the harvest belongs to God by giving tithes, and they recognize that the land belongs to God by keeping off it for one year in seven.  The idea would be scary.  How can one expect to survive on that basis? As happens with those other observances, God promises they will be provided for.

John Goldingay. Exodus and Leviticus for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.181.

      Yes, it is really very scary to give 10% and more to God. It is really scary to keep Sabbath and rest for one day doing no work. It is really scary to follow all those complicated rules God commands. But, those rules are to train the Israelites and us that God is the ultimate Provider. Actually the Israelites never observed the year of Jubilee because they didn't think that it worked. Yes, they observe the Sabbath, tithing and most of the rules, not the year of Jubilee.They suffered from not doing that and lost their land and nation at last.

      The key word today is "securely". There are so many people living on earth from that day to nowadays feeling "not secure" each day causing lots of problems to their own lives and the communities. You don't do it, you won't experience the wonderful provision of God and you won't live each day securely.

      Do you really believe God is the Provider?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to offer our tithing, to rest for one day a week and to follow those guidelines and rules you have given us through the teaching of our church so that we can experience you are the Provider.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you think what God commands here in this chapter about the year of Jubilee works? Why YES or NO?

2. Do you believe God is your Provider? How have you experienced that? How can you trust in God more so that you can experience in a greater way that God is your Provider?

Praise and Thanksgiving
Let's give thanks for God with us. Let us praise Him:
