Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

      On God rests my salvation and my glory;
    my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
    pour out your heart before him;
    God is a refuge for us.
                             Psalm 62:7-8

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Leviticus 15:1-33)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+10&version=ESV

 “If a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until the evening. 17 And every garment and every skin on which the semen comes shall be washed with water and be unclean until the evening. 18 If a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, both of them shall bathe themselves in water and be unclean until the evening.
19 “When a woman has a discharge, and the discharge in her body is blood, she shall be in her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.
                              Leviticus 15: 16-19

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
     This is a difficult chapter for us to read because it seems nothing apply to today's world. It's talking about unclean and about sex. It's talking about those who are unclean need to stay out of the sanctuary that day.

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

     We have noted that many of the regulations in the Torah do not look as if they were designed for literal implementation.  They were more like teaching tools.  Of course many Jews give themselves to proper literal observance of these rules - though again, after the destruction of the temple and the cessation of sacrifice, the rules could not be observed as they stand.  However far they were designed for literal implementation, they were also teaching tools.
     In Western Christian culture, the key question about sex may seem the moral one about whether you are having sex with the right person, and menstruation is just something a woman has to manage.  Actually sex and menstruation deserve some awe on the part of both men and women.  For some women, their monthly period is a reminder that once again they have failed to conceive. They are very aware of the link between menstruation and procreation and their menstruation is a sign of life and a sign of death; it is life wasted. So is their husbands' emission of semen.

John Goldingay. Exodus and Leviticus for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.151, 155.

      I do not know how much you have got from this chapter or Professor Goldingay's teaching. What I receive from Jesus today is to think of a very practical situation nowadays. The fact is that the only two places not talking about sex is the home church and Christian families. I am not sure whether non-Christian families talk about sex between parents and children, but I am quite sure most Christian parents do not talk about sex. My parents never talk about sex. You need to know that the Bible talks about sex both in the New Testament and the Old Testament.

     So, is there a better way for us to teach and talk about sex in our churches and families so that Christians do not have to learn sex from all kinds of confusing teaching?

Dear Lord Jesus,
      Help us to know how to teach about sex in all ages so that our people won't be confused by all kinds of confusing teaching. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you agree that our churches and families might be the only place not talking about sex in this modern age?

2. How can you change this situation so that we can talk about sex and teach about sex in our churches and families?

Praise and Thanksgiving
Let's give thanks for God with us. Let us praise Him:
