Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

           Ascribe power to God,
            whose majesty is over Israel,
and whose power is in the skies.
35          Awesome is God from his sanctuary;
the God of Israel—he is the one
who gives power and strength to his people.
         Blessed be God!
                             Psalm 68:34-35

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Numbers 12:1-16)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers 12&version=ESV

Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. And they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. And suddenly the Lord said to Moses and to Aaron and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tent of meeting.” And the three of them came out. And the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forward. And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in all my house. With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he departed.
                             Numbers 12:1-9

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening
One of the few things happen in churches but I do not understand is that there are top leaders speaking against or even slander against God's servants, just as Miriam and Aaron did to Moses. They do not know that the act might cause God's anger according to today's passage.

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

One can imagine Moses groaning. The people complained against him in Egypt; they complained against him at the Reed Sea; they complained against him on the way to Sinai, and they have complained against him on the way from Sinai. He has already told God that it is all too much. Now his sister and brother have turned against him. It is plausible to describe him as the most unpopular person in all the world.

John Goldingay. Numbers & Deuteronomy for Everyone. Louisville,KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010, p.32.

How can you imagine the most meek and powerful men in the history of mankind is also the most unpopular person in all the world!

For all those who like Moses got leaders to speak against you or even slandering you, you need to let go. It's OK! Even Moses got that, how can we escape!

For those who slandering God's servant(s), don't do it any more! Read today's passage again, the consequence would be severe!

The sad thing is that most people do not know they are wrong to speak against God's servants or slandering about them. They usually think they are speaking the "truth" because they think those leaders are without "integrity", just like how Miriam and Aaron thought about Moses! It is a pity that we as human beings always want to sit in God's seat to judge other people. Even God spoke this to Miriam and Aaron, "Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?". But, they had not regretted nor repented! If Miriam and Aaron could make that mistake, we all can. So, watch out!

Support and protect God's servants! Don't slandering about them!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to let go of of those discouragement and sadness when someone slandering about us. Make us strong to follow you trusting you have your own way to deal with those people. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you think speaking against God's servants or slandering about them is really so serious? Why?

2. How can you not being discouraged if you have got those hurt? How can you support and protect God's servants more?

Praise and Thanksgiving
