Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

            The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name!
             Holy is he!

                                  Psalm 99:2-3

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Deuteronomy 16:18-17:13)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy 16&version=ESV

18 “You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.19 You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous.20 Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
                   Deuteronomy 16:18-20

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening

Why does God command the Israelites to have "Justice, and only justice  you shall follow"? Do you think it would happen? Do you think it is happening in your own country?

Let's see how Professor John Goldingay tells us:
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Goldingay) :

The phrase "justice and only justice" I have rendered as "absolute faithfulness." Faithfulness (seder) denotes doing the right thing by people in your community…
Deuteronomy is especially concerned with doing the right thing within the community. In the villages where most people lived, the elders would be the people who dealt with disputes and conflicts, including homicide, and thus had responsibility for doing the right thing.

What I received from Jesus today is a call to pray for your top leaders in your country each day so that "Justice, and only justice, you shall follow" can happen. Do you know why? Because only if we can follow God we can live that out no matter an individual person or a country. For an individual it is already difficult to follow God each day, and for a country, it is impossible.
Could you start praying for your top leaders daily starting today?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to pray for our top leaders in our countries staring today.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. Do you think to live out "justice, and only justice, you shall follow" is impossible if we can't follow God?

2. Are you willing to pray for your top leaders in your country starting today ?

Praise and Thanksgiving
