Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

Praise and Thanksgiving

1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.   Open your heart to praise the Lord

The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
       Exalt the Lord our God;
           worship at his footstool!
       Holy is he!

                          Psalm 99:1, 5

Confession and Repentance

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you:

“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sin to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gift to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

The Word (Deuteronomy 17:14-20)

English(ESV): https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=申+命+記+17&version=ESV

14 “When you come to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,’ 15 you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 16 Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you,‘You shall never return that way again.’ 17 And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.
18 “And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, 20 that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel.
                   Deuteronomy 17:14-20

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

My Listening

King Solomon, perhaps the one in the history of mankind who is the most wise, most powerful and wealthiest man, brings self-destruction to himself and also to the whole nation of Israel and his descendants.
Yesterday I gave you a challenge to find out what is the king's name and how he did not follow the three "NOs" and the whole Kingdom of Israel was being destroyed by his pride and not listening to God. What is your finding?
In verse 16 to 17 God says very clear that when the Israelites have a king he can't do three things:
1. Buy no horse from Egypt
2. Not have many wives
3. Not acquire excessive silver and gold

Let's see the three passages to prove Solomon did all those 3 NOs!

1. Buy horses from Egypt

1 Kings 10: 26, 28 -29
26 And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.
29 A chariot could be imported from Egypt for 600 shekels of silver and a horse for 150, and so through the king's traders they were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.

2. Have many wives

1 Kings 11:3
He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart.

3. Acquire excessive silver and gold

1 King 10: 14-17, 27
14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold,15 besides that which came from the explorers and from the business of the merchants, and from all the kings of the west and from the governors of the land. 16 King Solomon made 200 large shields of beaten gold; 600 shekels of gold went into each shield. 17 And he made 300 shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went into each shield. And the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
27 And the king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stone,

Did Solomon know that God commanded him not to do that? YES! Why did he still do that? PRIDE!

Most people follow his path leaving God's Kingdom not to have God as King but themselves as kings! It is somewhat like this:
1. Power - Go back to the old-self, old-lifestyle to seek for power
2. Sex - committed sexual sins like pornography, sex outside marriage etc.
3. Money - Money as lord but not Jesus as Lord

Jesus says, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."    Matthew 4:17

Power, sex and money, that's how Satan tempted Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-13)and he won.
That's how Satan tempted King Solomon and he failed, he lost.
That's how Satan will keep on tempting you and you have already failed many times, right?
I suggest you to click this link to go to my Break.Build to prepare yourself for Satan's next temptation to pull you out of God's Kingdom. Let Jesus' Sermon of the Mount and His daily presence helping you to be sure that you are in His Kingdom having Jesus as Lord and King:

You as king = Self-destruction
God as King = Blessings
Which way are you going to choose?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to follow you daily so that we won't suffer the consequence of pride and not listening to you. You are our King. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:
1. How do you feel when you read yesterday and today's message? Have you got a better self-awareness of yourself that you can't win this spiritual warfare because even King Solomon lost?

2. Do you know your daily intimate relationship with Jesus is the only answer for you to stay in God's Kingdom to have Jesus as Lord and King? Are you willing to use my Break.Build 40 days daily devotion at least once every year to prepare yourself for Satan's next temptation and attack?

Praise and Thanksgiving
