I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong - that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.
Romans 1: 11

What I heard from Jesus today is: Impart or depart?

Paul wanted to impart to the leaders in Rome some spiritual gift to make them strong. The way to impart spiritual gift is usually by the laying on of hands. I learn the important of the laying on of hands almost twenty years ago and I always ask quite a number of God's servants to lay hands on me that I may be filled by the Holy Spirit and that they could impart some spiritual gift to me. And I have been richly blessed by this kind of blessings.

Paul shows how the gentiles were deep in sin from Romans 1: 18 - 32 and the "dirty" list of how muddy a life can become. When we "depart" with a daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus then there is a great chance that we will fall into that kind of "muddy" lifestyle. Let's examine our lives whether we are being caught in some of those wickedness. Let's do this examination using a wonderful translation from the Message:

28-32Since they didn't bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose. And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous, fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives. They ditch their parents when they get in the way. Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded. And it's not as if they don't know better. They know perfectly well they're spitting in God's face. And they don't care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!

Dear Holy Spirit,
Convict us if we have that kind of lifestyle according to that list. Come and fill us that we can break the power of sin because of you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
